| I think that's about the size of the center here too. Our center doesn't seem like it's used that much though. |

I passed
I'll probably do the IT Tech one early next year. My next class has me studying up for another CIW exam.

Yes... unlike the CIW questions; CompTIA seems to enjoy the use of trickery in their questions. I did not ace this exam; although I got a decent score on it there were certainly some questions that I probably got tricked on and would have gotten right if they were a little less vague/obscure.
I'm not entirely sure as to the point of that anyhow. Either ya know the subject or you don't. If you don't you are going to get it wrong regardless. Why being vague & obscure in the questioning just seems to be unnecessarily complicating. Maybe Michael can enlighten on the subject some.
I am happy to have done it though; it was a good exam.

BosonMichael is definitely the expert on this subject; my only guess is to say the quality of the writers isn't as good at CompTIA, but I could be completely off base there, as I don't know the writers at all.
A pass is a pass, right?! At WGU, is the score of the exam factored into your GPA at all? |

CompTIA doesn't have any in-house writers. Instead, they ask people (who they call SMEs, or Subject Matter Experts) who have passed a previous version of an exam to come to Chicago to write items for them. The "SMEs" (and I use the term "expert" VERY loosely) have to travel to Chicago on their own dime, and they're paid a daily stipend of something like $300.
Unfortunately, these SMEs aren't usually trained writers... and it shows. And in many cases, the SMEs don't know that the questions they write sometimes contain more than one correct choice - or no correct choices. Sometimes, the questions are vague because the SME doesn't know the correct terminology, or doesn't provide enough info.
In short, I don't think they're trying to be tricky... I simply think they don't know any better. And if they're TRYING to be tricky... well, they're failing at it.
In any case, congrats! :) |

WGU does not factor in the scores themselves, no. It's either Pass/Fail.
Michael, thanks for that info.. that does make sense to me now. Unfortunately, I'll have to put up with that for a while because there will be many other CompTIA exam's coming down the road.
At least I'll be a little more prepared for the silliness.
